Iris vs Officio

Officio is general-purpose immigration practice management: it serves a wide range of Canadian immigration professionals and is not built around any one province or one kind of caseload. Iris is deliberately narrower. It is built for a Quebec-facing, bilingual practice that also places students, by an RCIC who runs exactly that practice. Narrower is not automatically better — it is better if it is your shape.

Who Each Tool Is Built For

Choose Officio if…

Officio suits a firm that wants broad, established immigration practice management and whose caseload spans many client types — including law firms, where the requirements differ from a solo RCIC consultancy. If your needs are general rather than Quebec-specific, breadth is an advantage.

Choose Iris if…

Iris suits the practice whose files keep hitting the same two gaps: the Quebec selection layer that federal-oriented tooling has no field for, and the school admission that precedes half the study permits you file. If neither of those describes your work, Officio is likely the safer, broader choice.

Why Switch from Officio?

  • ✓Quebec files are tracked outside the software because the software has no CAQ or CSQ concept
  • ✓You need the interface, templates and client documents in French as well as English
  • ✓You place students and want the admission joined to the permit application
  • ✓You want a product roadmap driven by a practising consultant's own caseload

Iris vs Officio — Common Questions

Officio has been around far longer. Why take a chance on Iris?+

Only take it for a reason. Iris is new and we are not going to argue track record with an established platform. Take the trial if your Quebec work or your admissions pipeline is currently living outside your CRM — that is a specific problem with a specific fix. If your practice fits general immigration practice management cleanly, longevity is worth more than novelty.

How does Iris compare to Officio on price?+

We do not quote Officio’s pricing on this page. Vendor plans change, and a stale comparison table is worse than no table at all — read their plans from their own site, and ours from the pricing section at withiris.ca. For a sense of the market: VisaNauta publishes a flat $59–$279/month band with no commission on client fees, which is the only published range we can point to without guessing. In practice this decision comes down to fit rather than a large price gap.

Can we run Iris alongside Officio during an evaluation?+

Yes, and we would encourage it. Run a handful of live files through both for a full intake cycle rather than migrating everything on day one. Regulated files are the wrong thing to move on a hunch.

Does Iris meet the same CICC obligations?+

CICC compliance is the price of entry in this category, not a selling point — Officio is built around it and so is Iris, and we are not going to pretend we invented record keeping. Iris writes a full activity trail on every case, carries a projected destruction date on closed files so retention is visible rather than remembered, and can export a complete file when the regulator asks for one. We build compliance to parity and compete on Quebec and on admissions instead.
